GIVE A KID A LIFT
This year, many students across the country continue to recover from learning loss because of the pandemic. One proven strategy for academic recovery that has helped King Center students is our after-school program. The king Center afterschool program offers research proven high impact tutoring and engaging enrichment programs for our urban youth. These programs offer Math and Reading tutoring along with fun enrichment activities such as yoga, mentoring, fitness, STEAM, music production and gardening. Last year with the help of federal funds, we were able to provide these services for over 100 students in our school who needed academic and social- emotional support. Attendance was over 90% for students attending afterschool, which is HUGE for urban programs. The key to program attendance was transportation. Having access to afterschool transportation has removed an access barrier to services many of our families face. Many parents do not have a way to pick up students from programing due to lack of a vehicle or work schedules. Now federal funding is limited, and transportation is again a barrier for our students. We need your help.
This year for Giving Tuesday, we are asking you to help us give our kids a lift- literally. Your generous donation can help provide after school transportation for 100 King Center students. This would help us continue to support students as they recover from learning loss and restore their social emotional capacity.
